| Post rehab
is the fastest growing segment in the fitness industry.
The aging of North America and the burdens placed on our
health care systems make it imperative we introduce safe
and effective exercise programming and training as an
option in management of clients with musculoskeletal,
cardiovascular and neurologic disorders. Exercise
is the key to long term management of most medical conditions
but we need post rehab professionals with the skills and
knowledge to work safely and effectively with these clients.
Register now for the Advanced Essentials of Post Rehab
Fitness course and you will learn the skills needed to
offer safe and effective post rehab services to your clients. |
| Advanced
Essentials is an introductory course for fitness trainers,
massage therapists, aquatic exercise specialists, kinesiologists,
rehab technicians and exercise physiologists who work
with medically based clients. Advanced Essentials allows
you to get started, learn the basics to begin working
with post rehab clients. |
- Do more and more of your clients have joint, neurologic,
back or medical conditions? Are you unclear on how
to develop exercise programs for those clients?
- Do you have to work around your clients’
injuries or conditions because you aren’t sure
what to do?
- Do you want to offer more meaningful services to
your clients?
- Would you like to work with clients referred by
their physician, physical therapist or chiropractor?
|
| If
you answered yes to any of these questions, the Advanced
Essentials of Post Rehab Fitness Workshop offers the first
step toward developing a post rehab training practice.

- Go online to Postrehab.com and access the members
area and listen to the Foundations of Post Rehab audio
series (you may download these audios to your computer
or MP3 player).
- Review the Foundations of Post Rehab audio modules
online prior to attending the Advanced Essentials
course.
- View the Essentials DVD prior to attending the Advanced
Essentials workshop (this is not mandatory but reviewing
the DVD’s in advance will make the learning
experience much richer).
- Once you complete the Advanced Essentials workshop,
you may register for the PRCS exam.
- You must complete 10 hours of observation in a sportsmed,
physical therapy or chiropractic clinic after registering
for the exam. The supervising medical professional
must provide a letter of verification of your hours
of observation.
- Once the observation hours are complete, you may
take the exam. You must find an exam proctor in your
community. The exam proctor must be a licensed medical
professional (physical therapist, nurse, physician,
and/or chiropractor). Ideally, the practitioner under
whom you completed the observation hours is the best
medical professional to serve as your proctor. The
exam procedure requires the proctor to place you in
a quiet area with no resource materials. You complete
the written and practical components of the PRCS exam.
The proctor may continue to treat his patients while
you complete the exam. The proctor does not have to
assess your practical skills during the examination
process. Once the examination is completed, the proctor
gathers the exam answer sheet and faxes the answer
sheet to our office. You must complete the PRCS exam
within 60 days of conclusion of the Advanced Essentials
course.

| ABOUT
THE ACADEMY |
Thank
you for you interest in the American Academy
of Health, Fitness and Rehabilitation Professionals.
The Academy was founded in 1992 by Michael
K. Jones, PhD, RPT to “Bridge the Gap
Between Health Care and Fitness”. Since
its inception, AAHFRP has played an important
role in preparing fitness professionals to
provide post rehab and medical exercise to
clients with a wide variety of medical conditions
in the United States, Canada, Germany, England,
Australia, Burma, Bermuda & Ireland.
AAHFRP certified Medical Exercise Specialists
(MES), Post Rehab Conditioning Specialists
(PRCS) and Medical Exercise Program Directors
(MEPD) are found working in hospital based
fitness programs, corporate fitness centers,
sportsmedicine and physical therapy clinics,
chiropractic offices, health/fitness clubs
and in client’s homes. Hundreds of AAHFRP
certified fitness professionals have received
reimbursement from insurance carriers and
referrals from medical professionals. These
insurance carriers include: Liberty Mutual,
the Ohio Workman’s Compensation Bureau,
the Insurance Corp. of British Columbia, Zurich
Int'l, Blue Cross, AETNA and many more.
As we move into the 21st century, AAHFRP will
continue to meet the needs of MES' and PRCS'
while understanding the demands of your busy
practices. With that in mind, we have concentrated
our efforts developing advanced videotape
and internet courses. Licensed medical practitioners
teach all courses. This ensures that the courses
are based on sound scientific/clinical research
and provide “functional learning”
you can apply immediately.
This certification requires completion of
10 contacts hours of continuing education
courses (which may be done by video) or 10
hours observation in a medical setting under
a licensed practitioner to maintain certification.
