Medical Exercise Program Director (MEPD) Prerequisites:
You must meet ONE of these four prerequisites to enroll in our Medical Exercise Specialist, Essentials of Post Rehab Fitness and/or Medical Exercise Program Director workshops:
1. Certified as a personal trainer by a nationally recognized certifying body or
 
2. A degree in a health or fitness related discipline (i.e. physical education, nursing, recreation or exercise physiology) or
 
3. Two years experience working in a rehab setting under a licensed medical professional or
 
4. Currently licensed as a physical therapist, chiropractor, massage therapist, athletic trainer/therapist, nurse, physician, occupational therapist or physician assistant.
 
A current valid CPR card is also mandatory.
 
Medical Exercise Program Director Final Exam
You are able to take the MEPD Final Exam in your own community. Simply find a licensed physician, chiropractor, physiotherapist or nurse in your community to act as a proctor. We will send the examination to them and you may take the exam in his or her office.
Each of the courses requires completion of an exam and project.
Entrance to the MEPD requires the submission of an application and three letters of recommendation.
 
The MEPD program usually takes 1 year to complete
